The Fortnightly moves house
After 165 issues, The Fortnightly is moving to Substack on April 20th. There are some technical reasons for this, but the main one is to be part of a writing and reading community, the tone of which is much more constructive and positive than certain other places. Much of the most interesting online writing these days takes place there (example: Story Club from George Saunders). It also provides engagement and connection features which don’t exist on Mailchimp.
Plans for 166 include sections on Carol Atherton’s new book on English teaching, the new ‘tronie’ exhibition at the National Gallery of Ireland, John Donne (including a new ‘Audio Corner’ for listening to my dulcet tones), helpful teaching and learning links and more.
From now on, sign-ups are on my Substack page here. Current subscribers need to do nothing. And it’s always free.
