researchED Dublin: the return
In October 2019 we held the first researchED Dublin event (and the first in Ireland). Read a report on that hugely enjoyable day.
Another event was scheduled for autumn 2020, with a fine line-up of presenters, but we all know what happened. 2021 didn’t seem wise at all, but now with optimism we’re heading for Saturday 24th September, again on the lovely campus of my school, St Columba’s College in South Dublin.
And again, there’s a really fine line-up. At last Professor Paul Kirschner will be coming from the Netherlands, and we’re thrilled that Professor Barbara Oakley is making the trip from the United States. There are lots of fine primary and secondary teachers, university lecturers and researchers, too, but since most visitors to this site will be interested in things English, I here pick out Jennifer Webb, author of books like How to Teach English Literature: Overcoming Cultural Poverty (2019) and Teach Like a Writer (2020), both of which I recommend, as well as English teachers from Ireland: Kate Barry, Clare Madden. And Mark Roberts, author of The Boy Question among other books, is coming down from Northern Ireland. Check out the whole list.
In 2019 and for the cancelled 2020 tickets went extremely quickly. They go on sale on Thursday 12th May, at 7.30pm. €40 for a whole day with top-class speakers, a convivial social experience, with a good lunch and plenty of coffee and snacks thrown in. Don’t hang around. Go here.
