Oliver Lovell's 'Tools for Teachers'

Tools for Teachers: how to teach, lead and learn like the world’s best educators by the Australian teacher and author Ollie Lovell is based on his tremendous ERRR podcast series, the one of the best educational resources around. Since 2017 he has interviewed in depth thinkers like Daisy Christodoulou, Dylan Wiliam, Bill Rogers and Pamela Snow. He is always enthusiastic, positive and well-informed.

There are three main sections: Teach (chapters on Explicit Instruction, Behaviour Management, Motivation, Regulation & Relationships), Lead (Purpose, Curriculum, Leadership) and Learn (Reading and Evaluating Education Research). This week I've been listening to the latest interview, with Viviane Robinson, whose intellectual rigour makes her one of the most interesting thinkers on leadership there is. It's long and intense, on Virtuous Education Leadership.

The book is a most impressive act of synthesis, and it's a prompt to dive into the talks themselves, which are listed on pages 289 to 292 of the book, and also on Lovell’s website.
