As promised, we had the first online educational chat in Ireland since 2020 on Monday 2nd December, on Bluesky. Lots of Irish educators pitched in for an hour+ on the topic:

In education, what do you want from a new government?

It was fast, furious and fun. Check out the posts on Bluesky. As John Hurley wrote,

I've missed this! The serious talk, and the bit of banter. Real sense of community, and of the respect we have for each other.

The last #edchatie on Twitter was in March 2020, just before the pandemic, and on Monday proper acknowledgement was made to Fred Boss’s 9 years’ stewardship.

So we need to keep it going. The proposal is every two weeks in term-time, and with a team of hosts (think ‘Have I Got News for You’ for pedagogy). Here’s an opportunity to give some ideas, and to volunteer to host (form also at the bottom), and so far these topics have been suggested. I’ll add more as they come in:

  • What is education for?
